With this process you can cut out shapes from sheets of paper using a cutting forme. Die-cutting gives your printed material crisp, clean cuts. It is commonly used when creating folders, envelopes and windows in greetings cards. Die-cutting can also be used as a unique design feature on brochure and catalogue covers, allowing images from the text pages to be viewed when closed.
This is when the paper fibers are preconditioned prior to folding to minimise cracking. Often used on heavier weight paper and boards.
Opposite is an example of die-cutting being used as a design feature on a University Prospectus.
