Why We Comply With ISO 14001

ISO 14001 is a voluntary international standard for establishing environmental management systems. ISO 14001 provides organisations like Westdale with factors and requirements that make an effective environmental management system.

The ISO 14001 criteria are structured around five core principles:

  • Policy
  • Planning
  • Training, Implementation & Operation
  • Checking & Corrective Action
  • Review

This emphasises:

  • Our legal compliance with relevant legislation
  • Preventing pollution through avoidance, reduction and control
  • Our commitment to continual improvement of the environmental management system and, hence, the environmental performance of the organisation in linewith its Environmental Policy

The overall aim of ISO 14001 is to support environmental protection and prevention of pollution in balance with socio-economic needs. Demonstration of compliance with this international standard can be used to assure interested parties that appropriate environmental management systems are in place.

In addition to the environmental benefits of our compliance with ISO 14001, many environmentally-conscious organisations only consent to trade with businesses certified to ISO 14001 as a minimum. Westdale is happy to make itself available to such organisations.
